Bye bye, 2020!
Unexpected, shocking, difficult... lots of adjectives come to our minds when we recap the past 12 months.
But let's not forget the most challenging year ever brought some good things too!
In February we organised a new edition of our Studio Outlet and it was so good to meet some of you sailors in person! Always a pleasure chatting with you, seeing what's your favorite Bonito, having your feedback... Can't wait for the next occasion!
In April, when the Coronavirus crisis was already hitting us hard, we launched our new waterproof Bonitos: the Madagascar capsule collection. Launching the collection was a tough decision for us, we knew literally the whole world had stopped but we had worked really hard to have everything ready. Plus, we wanted to bring some joy to our dear sailors in those dark days, so that's what we did!
Also, in April we joined a good cause organized by our stockists in Barcelona OMG: they asked us and some other artists and brands to raffle one of our products and raise money for the Hospital Clínic in Barcelona, so they can buy the material needed to fight against the Coronavirus crisis.
We raffled our brand new Blue Whale bag and raised 151€! It was very touching for all of us, knowing that we made a small contribution to our society in such a difficult time.
That same month we shared the collaboration we were about to launch before the pandemic began: WWF Mediterranean Marine Initiative contacted us because they were organizing a fishermen event in Spain to promote good practices in small scale fishing and wanted to offer our Sardine case as a gift.
And that's what we did! We produced a special batch of Sardine cases with the WWF logo in our label and we were super happy of the result. Unfortunately, the event never took place because of the covid-19 pandemic.
August was a special month too, our collaboration with the monthly stationery box subscription Papergang was launched!
Months before that we received an email from the Papergang team asking if we wanted to design their July box and we totally accepted. As big stationery fans we just couldn't refuse the opportunity! Again, due to the pandemic things didn't go as planned but luckily we could launch it, only in August instead of July.
The box conatined several items designed by us: a stamp-shaped washi tape featuring many of our Bonitos, a notebook with our Surgeonfish pattern on the cover, a crab enamel key ring, a cute A5 print, a die-cut Butterfly fish deskpad, a perpetual calendar with some of our friends in the background and a booklet with our interview. We were very happy with the result!
And, although most of our plans faded away, we managed to work from home during the confinement, to keep on designing our new collection that will hopefully be launched next Spring, keep adding new stockists to our big family and keep on being positive and excited with our next adventures!
Here's to 2021! Let's make the most of it together!
