This month on the Inspiring Women blog, we’re excited to introduce Isabelle Laydier Kristensen, an art director and illustrator behind Blumenhaus. In this interview, Isabelle shares her creative journey, the inspiration behind her work, and the balance between art and business. Let's hear more from Isabelle herself!


Thank you for the kind introduction! I'm Isabelle, and it's a pleasure to share more about my journey and the story behind Blumenhaus. Together with my dear friend Camille, we created Blumenhaus in 2020, driven by our shared love for nature and a desire to create something meaningful. I’m excited to dive into the details with you!



What first drew you to the world of art and illustration, and how did it shape your career path?


Drawing has always been a part of me, ever since I was a child, creating art alongside my mother, who shares the same passion. At 18, I moved to Paris to pursue my art studies, first at La Sorbonne, then at a private art school, where I completed a three-year degree. Afterward, I dove into the world of advertising, but a year before launching Blumenhaus, I took the leap to freelancing, which allowed me to truly embrace my creative path.

What inspired you to co-found Blumenhaus with Camille Gressier, and how did you both come together to bring this vision to life?


Our shared passion for flowers and nature has always been at the heart of our connection. From the very beginning, it was clear that this love for the natural world would shape the core of our project. It felt like a perfect fit to channel our mutual appreciation for nature into something meaningful, and Blumenhaus was born from that inspiration.

As a businesswoman in the creative industry, what have been some key lessons you’ve learned along the way?


One of the most important lessons I've learned is to always trust your intuition. It helps guide you toward decisions that align with your true vision, especially in the creative industry. staying true to your instincts ensures you create something authentic and meaningful.



How do you manage to balance your creative passions with the demands of running a business?


I believe that staying organized is essential to achieving a good balance. It helps manage both the creative and practical aspects of running a business, allowing you to stay focused and efficient without feeling overwhelmed.



What advice would you give to other women who aspire to start their own business?


As I mentioned earlier, listening to your inner intuition is one of the most important things, along with creating from the heart. Trusting your instincts and staying true to your passion can guide you in the right direction.



Looking ahead, what are your aspirations for Blumenhaus, and what future projects or goals are you excited about?


We have some exciting collaborations and projects in the works that I can’t reveal just yet, but stay tuned, there's a lot to look forward to <3!
